Finansbank The need for speed
Finansbank is one of the youngest and most successful new banks in Turkey. It started in 1987 as a corporate bank and grew rapidly enabling it to open retail branches in the mid ‘90’s and also open banks in Holland, Germany, Switzerland and Russia. It’s now
the fifth largest bank in Turkey with around 280 branches
and 6000 people.

We met Finansbank in 2005 at the point where it planned a big retail push. The aim of the project
we did was two fold:- to liven up the corporate look of the bank so that it had a real retail appeal with
a proper customer segmentation and to design a consistent branch design kit enabling the bank
to expand rapidly into any size or shape of
branch they could get their hands on.
Finansbank is not like the other banks in Turkey. Its style is younger and its operations culture
and decision making are faster. Their customers are more upscale, short on time but interested
in credit and more complex financial products
and therefore the bank needed to create a way
to push customers through the bank as quickly
as possible.

We re-designed the identity, introducing a visual segmentation for personal, small business and corporate clients. Out total concept was based on accentuating the idea of fast, professional, highly organised service. The new branch designs are divided into front of house, fast delivery areas
and progressively slower, high advisory areas.

We also designed overflow units to handle the massive numbers of walk-in customers, who could be banking with any bank, who need to pay utility or credit card bills on certain days of the month. We proposed modular pre-fab units with ATMs
and BTMs that could be sited close to the banks and would allow the main branches to stay relatively crowd free in the busiest times.
